From Heavy Seas Beer in Maryland comes Loose Canon, an American IPA with a healthy 7.25% ABV. Loose Cannon pours out a burnished gold with a tall head that leaves a thin lace behind. The nose of this IPA is of grass and pine hops, with citrus hops underneath (the beer is hopped three ways: in the kettle, in the hop back, and dry hopped, using over three pounds of hops per barrel of beer). The nose is also hop forward, with dry bread and biscuit malts underneath. This beer is well carbonated and the mouthfeel is satisfying. Loose Cannon is fired off year-round, in bottles, casks, growlers and on-tap; we like to serve this ale at 45-50F in a pint glass, mug, or stein. Heavy Seas Loose Cannon pairs well with curry and Thai cuisine, peppery and sharp cheeses, poultry, fish, shellfish and salmon.
