2012 Vintage - Dogfish Head Urkontinent is brewed in the style of a Belgian Dubbel, but there's a lot more going on in this 8.1% ABV beer. Dogfish Head crafts this international ale with Pilsner, Munich and Chocolate Malts and Belgian Dark Candi syrup, along with Wattleseed from Australia, Toasted Amaranth from South America, Green Rooibos from Africa, Myrica Gale from Europe, and Hive Plex Honey from California for an underlying sweetness. Urkontinent pours out a clear black ruby with a light tan head that retains well. The nose of this Dubbel is of wheat bread, roasted barley and copper hops, with wild honey underneath. This is a limited edition beer, available in bottles and on-tap around Delaware. Urkontinent tastes of sweet honey and earthy hops, with brown sugar, copper hops and sunflower seed notes (from the Wattlseed). This Dubbel's body is full, the mouthfeel is pleasing. Try it in a goblet or chalice at 45-50F.
