2012 Vintage - Released in honor of the 40th anniversary of Miles Davis' album Bitches Brew (1970), Dogfish Head Bitches Brew is a very dark beer that fuses imperial stout with honey beer with gesho root (tribute to the fusion Miles created with this cross-over album) . Officially titled American Double/Imperial Stout, Bitches Brew is 9% ABV, with 38 IBUs. Bitches Brew pours out a solid black with a thin dark brown head that leaves light lacing on the glass. The nose offers stout malty aromas, with dark, roasted malts: coffee, cocoa, threads of alcohol. The flavor is also malt forwards, with hints of honey and booze, and the finish is bitter, as befits a Stout. Bitches Brew pairs well with buttery cheeses, chocolates, beef dishes, smoked meats, game, and grilled meat. This bitch is available on a rotating schedule in bottles, growlers, and on-tap; try her in a pint glass, snifter, or oversized wine glass.
