A classic barley wine, Brooklyn Monster Ale is of the style traditionally brewed by the butlers to the English and American aristocracy. Brooklyn Brewery crafts this Monster from three mashes of heirloom British malt and spices it with aromatic American Willamette, Cascade and Fuggle hops. This English Barleywine is a solid 10.80% ABV, and can be stored in your beer cellar successfully for a few years. It pours out a deep copper with visible carbonation, and a creamy inch high ivory head that leaves patchy foam. The nose is of rich, fruity malts with hints of toffee, brown sugar, dried fruit and pine. The monster's taste is of sweet and rich malts, dark fruits, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and a piney, bitter finish with traces of alcohol. Brooklyn Monster Ale is best served at 50-55 degrees F in a pint glass, snifter, or oversized wine glass. This barley wine is available in the fall, in bottles, growlers, and on-tap.
