The Patchogue, New York based Blue Point Brewery makes a tasty Vienna Lager, Toasted Lager. This ager is brewed from six different malts (English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat, and Belgian Caravienna) and balanced with earthy hops. Toasted Lager is 5.5% ABV and has 28 IBUs, and Blue Point brews it year round, bottled in kegs, growlers, bottles, cans and on tap. This lager pours out an amber color, with a dense white head that hangs around a while. There's visible amount of carbonation and faint lacing on your pint glass. The head of this lager is malty, sweet with caramel and corn, along with hay and yeast, and traces of apples and spices. The palate of Toasted Lager offers toasted bread malts, light hops, and more sweet caramel flavors. There's a sweet finish with lingering bitterness, but pleasantly so. The beer is of a medium body, with a crisp, refreshing feel.
