Brooklyn Brown is the Brooklyn Brewery's award-winning original American brown ale, firstbrewed as a holiday specialty, (now a popular year-round beer, in kegs and bottles). This brown ale is a combination of Northern and Southern English brown styles, with an American character too; firm hops and a roasted palate, crafted from a blend of six malts (British Two-row Malts, Belgian Aromatic Malts, American Roasted Malts). Brooklyn Brown is 5.6% ABV and has 30 IBUs. It pours out a dark amber with a thin lacing and a soft tan head. This ale's nose is of caramel, toffee and citrus. Brooklyn Brown's taste offers roasted malts up front, more caramel and toffee, and undertones of nuts, with a bitter hoppy finish (it's hopped with Willamette, American Fuggle, Cascade hops). The body is medium with perky carbonation; all in all, a very well balanced, drinkable brown ale. Brooklyn Brown pairs well with steaks, burgers, stews and barbecue, venison, ham and roasted pork, and strong cheeses.
