From Green Flash Brewing Co. comes Le Freak, a modern ale concocted from two distinct beer Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA; Le Freak calls itself a "Belgian IPA." This 9.2%, 101 IBUs ale is available year round in bottles, casks, growlers, and on-tap. Le Freak has won many medals at various California state fairs, and combines American hop and fruity Belgian yeast for a complex taste. A light and clear golden brew, Le Freak's nose is of chalky Belgian yeast, light fruits, some banana and clove, toasted malts, light hops, and light esters from the alcohol. It tastes of fruity Belgian yeasts, particularly banana, clove, bitter and citrus hops, and some alcohol that blends well with these flavors. The finish is hop bitterness, the body is medium full with thorough carbonation. Best enjoyed from a tulip, goblet, or oversized wine glass, Le Freak pairs well with sharp, pungent, and tangy cheeses.
