From Sixpoint Brewery comes The Crisp, a German Pilsner with a touch of Bohemian Pils. At 5.4% ABV, this crisp Pils pours out a golden-straw color with ample bubbles and a tall white head which retains for a while, then laces the pint glass persistently. The nose of this ale is of fresh lemon hops, light bready malts, various spices, and some lager yeast underneath; a Bavarian sort of aroma. The taste follows the nose, with sweet bready malts, citrus hops, and a lager-yeast, dry sort of finish with hints of saffron. The Crisp is well carbonated, with a medium body-quite sessionable. Look for The Crisp year-round in cans, bottles, and on-tap around Brooklyn. Try this Pils in a flute, Pilsnener glass, or mug, at 40-45F. The Crisp is a good pair for German or Japanese cuisine, peppery cheeses, poultry, fish or as an aperitif.
