The late beer British reviewer Michael Jackson says of Sierra Nevada's Big Foot. "...Bigfoot captures the imagination, and its character is as big as the name implies, with a huge hoppiness in its earthy aroma, a chewy palate, and a great depth of flavor." This American Barleywine has an ABV of 9.6%, and has won numerous gold medals at American beer festivals in California, Alaska, and elsewhere. This is a winter ale, with a dense, fruity bouquet; it's brewed with cascade, centennial, and Chinook hops, and a top fermenting ale yeast. Sierra Nevada uses two-ow Barley Malt, English Caramel Malt, and Dextrin Malt in the fermenting process, which create a very rich, bittersweet palate; really, the balance between the fruitiness, maltiness and the bitter hoppiness is just right. Big Foot pours out a cloudy brownish-red with a small layer of foam with that complex malty aroma; this is a good beer for sipping at your leisure.
