An American Double/Imperial IPA, Ruckus Brewing's Hoptimus Prime is big on hops, brewed with five different varieties. With 9% ABV and 92 IBUs, Hoptimus Prime is dry hopped for two weeks, to really bring out the hoppiness, in aroma and flavor. Hoptimus Prime is sold year round, in 22 ox. bottles, 1/2 barrels, and 1/6 barrels. The beer pours out a brassy yellow, with red highlights; there's a short white head that settles early in the drink. Hoptimus Prime's nose is of hops, grapefruit and orange citrus, and three different malts. The taste is more hops, more citrus, some breadier tones, and alcohol opening up in the middle. This is a well carbonated beer that's friendly to the mouth, and ends with an alcohol point. The citrus notes and hop power make Ruckus Brewing's Hoptims Prime a good beer to pair with spicy foods or hot days.
