From the Norwegian brewery Nogne O, comes 100, an American Barleywine created to celebrate the brewery's 100th batch. This barleywine is 10.00% ABV, and is available year-round in bottles and on-tap around Norway. Crafted with Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt and with Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops 100 pours out a dark brown hue with an ivory head that leaves heavy lacing behind. With 80 IBU, 100 smells of caramel, toffee, molasses, raisins, grapefruit, tangerine, citrus, and dark fruits. It tastes like it smells, with dark fruits, toffee, smoke, tobacco, and leather, leading to a warm alcohol finish. 100 feels smooth and full bodied on the tongue, with mild carbonation and a dry bitterness. Try Nogne O 100 in a pint glass, tumbler, or snifter at 50-55 degrees F, and store it in your beer cellars to age if you like, at 45-50 degrees F. This barleywine is a good pair for sharp or pungent cheeses.
