Maine Beer King Titus is the brewery's robust American Porter, which Maine Beer brews with chocolate malts, roasted wheat, Munich malts, American 2-Row and Caramel malts, and also Centennial and Columbus hops. This 7.50% ABV American Porter is available on a rotating schedule in bottles. King Titus pours out a dark chestnut brown with a tall beige head that gently settles and laces the glass. The nose of this royal ale is of smoky malts, ash, burnt toast, oatmeal, and coffee; this warms to reveal toffee, caramel and dark chocolate. The taste opens with dry roasted malts, moving into smoke, oatmeal and espresso, then a subtle lactic cream and chocolate sweetness. Maine Beer has achieved a coffee beer that pleases from first to last; the finish is like a gourmet espresso. Maine Beer King Titus sips well from a pint glass, mug, or stein, at 45-50F. Try it with barbecue, smoked meat, or chocolate.
